An IM I just recieved from Spoon:
It almost seems like this is the era when musicians don't need labels any more.
I imagine in the near future a lot of artists starting to self-publish via digital distribution.
I wonder what prevents that now?
The irony is that, at this very moment, I'm in the middle of downloading Jonathan Coulton's entire discography, purchased directly from the artist himself.
There's only answer I can think of: Inertia.

Inertia has a long tradition as a way of life. (In fact, that inertia is a tradition seems to be a form of inertia itself. :) )
